DD 2.1 Documentation

Key terminology used throughout the Data Dictionary.

Standard Name
The canonical machine-readable name for a field or lookup value.
Definition
A human-readable description of what an element represents.
Added in Version
The Data Dictionary version in which the element was first introduced.
BEDES
Building Energy Data Exchange Specification — a related standard referenced by some DD elements.
Collection
A set of related records accessible via the Web API (typically maps to a resource).
Groups
Logical groupings of fields within a resource (e.g., Listing, Location, Tax).
Synonym
An alternative display name for a standard field or lookup value.
Lookup Name
The identifier for a lookup (enumeration) that a field references.

Element Status

Active
The element is part of the current Data Dictionary and may be used in certification.
Deprecated
The element is scheduled for removal. It is still recognized but should not be used in new implementations.
Deleted
The element has been removed from the Data Dictionary.
Proposed
The element is under consideration and has not yet been approved.

Lookup Status

Open
Any value is allowed. No standard enumeration is defined.
Open with Enumerations
Standard lookup values are defined but providers may also include additional local values.
Locked
Only the standard lookup values are allowed.

Simple Data Types

Boolean
True or false value.
Collection
A multi-valued field referencing a set of lookup values.
Date
A calendar date without time.
Number
A numeric value (integer or decimal).
String
A sequence of characters with a defined maximum length.
String List, Single
A single value selected from a lookup.
String List, Multi
Multiple values selected from a lookup, represented as a collection.
Timestamp
A date and time value, typically in ISO 8601 format.
