DD 2.1 Documentation

Purpose

The RESO Data Dictionary is a common reference for fields and lookups (enumerations) found in RESO-certified data sources. It provides universal guidelines for MLS listing input modules. Standardized terminology prevents implementation errors, eases field mapping and fosters innovation across the real estate industry.

Structure

The Data Dictionary is organized in a hierarchy:

Resources

Top-level categories such as Property, Member, Office and Media

Groups

Logical groupings of related fields within a resource

Fields

Individual data elements with names, types and definitions

Lookups

Enumerations of valid values for fields that accept a controlled list

Contributing

Proposed additions to the Data Dictionary require the following:

  • Name following RESO naming conventions
  • Definition describing the element
  • Data type and maximum length
  • Lookups, if applicable
  • Justification and utilization metrics
  • Review for duplication with existing elements

Contact info@reso.org for more information about the contribution process.
